Urban Outreach Concert puts Hanover Park talent in the spotlight
28 July 2026
The event, hosted by Artscape and supported through the City’s Formal Partnerships programme saw 38 performers take to the stage in the three-hour concert.
The concert at Hanover Park's First Community Resource Centre on 11 July was the third Urban Outreach Concert presented by Artscape in partnership with the City of Cape Town.
The initiative brings arts and cultural experiences directly into communities across Cape Town.
Previous concerts were held in Atlantis and Athlone over the past two years, creating opportunities for residents from different communities to participate in and contribute to Cape Town's cultural life. In this way, the programme shows how culture connects Cape Town through shared experiences, creativity and community participation.
The latest concert featured 38 performers, all local residents from Hanover Park and surrounds. The acts included role-play, singing and dancing.
Artscape identified the performers who attended preparatory workshops and had the opportunity to perform alongside established professional musicians to support their artistic development.
‘Thirty-eight performers from Hanover Park and surrounding communities took to the stage at this latest Urban Outreach Concert, after also taking part in preparatory workshops. Through our partnership with Artscape, we are bringing the performing arts closer to residents while providing emerging local talent with a meaningful performance experience,’ said Mayoral Committee Member for Community Services and Health, Councillor Francine Higham.
